This project finds permanence on a ridgeline shaped by wind and horizon. Conceived as an extension that anchors itself to the hillside, the architecture draws strength from the weight of lime-washed brick and the softened geometry of a planted roof. Old and new are held in balance, their edges blurred by garden, stone and light, as the language of the historic house is reinterpreted in quieter tones.
Within, the atmosphere is one of calm restraint. Surfaces of plaster and brick carry the shifting play of daylight, gathered through a high skylight or drawn in across the harbour-facing glass. Movement through the rooms is slow and deliberate, unfolding from the compression of entry to the release of garden and view. The experience oscillates between shelter and release: at times the building hunkers into the hill as refuge from the weather; at others, its walls dissolve, extending daily life into air, horizon and light.
