McGregor House is guided by a philosophy of reduction, where unnecessary complexity is stripped away to reveal a calm, expansive interior. The design begins with the plan itself, simplified to create openness, ease of movement, and clarity of sightlines. Materials play a central role in anchoring the atmosphere. Wide timber floorboards—300mm across and extending up to five metres in length—run continuously through the home, their warm tone grounding the spaces with a sense of permanence and craft. This rich timber surface is complemented by soft white marble, used sparingly but with precision, and paired with discreet lighting that recedes into the architecture. Custom furniture designed by the client integrates seamlessly, offering refinement without distraction. The result is a house that feels at once generous and intimate—a place where simplicity becomes a form of luxury, and where every detail contributes to a quiet, enduring sense of peace.
